GoodCap's Social Enterprise Expansion Fund (SEEF) provides growth capital to social enterprises. We are targeting for-profit and non-profit organizations that are creating new and exciting solutions to society’s most challenging problems by using sustainable business models. These solutions include service businesses that hire and train disconnected youth, healthcare delivery systems that provide medical benefits to at-risk populations, and fair trade coffee companies that provide access to US markets for marginalized farmers throughout the developing world.

We plan to give our limited partners an attractive blend of financial and social returns on their investment.

Problem: Proven social enterprises can not reach their maximum growth potential and therefore maximum social impact because there is no institutionalized funding sources that exist to fund their expansion.

Why does the gap exist? Social enterprises, specifically non-profits, receive program funding for proof of concept from philanthropic sources (foundations, angels). They can get this highly constrained funding for projects, but when it comes to scaling their operations, building capacity, and taking advantage of big opportunities, traditional philanthropic dollars typically can’t come to the table. Additionally, debt providers also shy away from funding expansion because it's not backed by assets. This leaves the enterprise reliant on internal funds to grow, missing out on market opportunities and the ability to deliver a more dramatic social impact.

Our Solution: Good Capital is raising a venture capital fund that will provide equity and equity-like risk-taking capital for expansion stage social enterprises.
